Section 6: Marlborough
Description
This section of CT 66 is in the town of Marlborough. It runs for 4.51 miles from the Marlborough / East Hampton town line to the Marlborough / Hebron town line. This road is the main east-west road through the town of Marlborough. It also serves as an outer bypass of Hartford from the south or west towards Providence. Traffic counts range from 10000 cars/day near the East Hampton town line, rising to 14000 cars/day in the town center, and dropping to 9600 cars/day at the Hebron town line. Traffic is steadily rising in this corridor, as Marlborough and the surrounding towns grow.
There is one traffic signal along this section, at the intersection of North and South Main Streets in the town center. A diamond interchange with CT 2 is located just east of the town center, which generates much of the traffic along CT 66. There is also a flashing beacon at the Marlborough Common Shopping Center driveway, just east of CT 2.
